Data search
We can help you find, obtain and understand the data you need
- Searching for data
- We work closely with the researcher to define the relevant data
Searches are performed by querying existing sources (French or international official statistics offices, institutes, official bodies...) - Data proposals based on several criteria (data format, data retrieval time, time available to the researcher...)
- Obtaining data
- Advice and assistance on retrieving data:
- Ordering surveys through the Réseau Quetelet portal
- Formalities for obtaining confidential data from the National Council for Statistical Information (CNIS) and the Secure Data Access Centre (CASD)
- Formalities for obtaining data from abroad...
- Understanding data
- Help understanding data for optimal use:
- Survey methodology
- Conditions applicable to the use of variables
- Methodological precautions
- Understanding metadata (documentation) )
- Data comparability...

Dissemination of anonymised data
The CMH-Adisp, CDSP and the INED Surveys Department collect, document and disseminate anonymised survey data. The Secure Data Access Centre (CASD) is a data service facility that allows researchers to work on highly detailed personal data — which is therefore subject to confidentiality constraints — in a highly secure environment.

The ICPSR (Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research) is Michigan-based archive centre which maintains more than 500,000 files on research in the social sciences. It hosts 16 specialised collections on education, ageing, justice, terrorism, etc.
Through a fully financed national subscription with ICPSR, researchers can gain access to all ICPSR data from their laboratories. As the PUDL is the ICPSR's local representative, it can provide guidance in the use of such data.
The OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) provides data on a wide range of topics and countries in the form of downloadable databases or personalised tables.
